Sophie Cochet (1990, France) is a figurative painter who focuses on the observation of everyday life, the relationship with others and the subjective transformation of memories. 

In her work, she is interested in the ambiguities of the sensations that continually coexist within us and mark the scenes of our daily lives with contrasting colours and impressions: Her paintings are characterised by several layers of information (plastic or figurative) revealing the porosities between distant notions such as the search for happiness and alienation, otherness and solitude, seemingly banal things and the sublime.
 
In drawing, she blurs the line between the personal and the collective by mixing viral images from the Internet with personal photos. 

Her work depicts a bittersweet reality, where the absurdity of existence coexists with the mysteries and beauty of the individual.
