ÉKSTASIS
Derived from the Ancient Greek ἔκστασις (ékstasis), meaning “to stand outside oneself,” ecstasy signifies a state of rapture in which the self is momentarily displaced, consumed by something beyond the ordinary scope of perception. In classical thought, it implied a transcendence of the self, a temporary exile from rational control.
The exhibition ÉKSTASIS channels this ancient notion through a vivid and heightened lens. It presents a collection of paintings, intricate miniatures, and sculptures that move between the sacred and the profane, the exalted and the unsettling. The human form is neither hidden nor reduced, but rendered with directness and intent—becoming both symbol and stage for intensity, beauty, and defiance.
These works invite a visceral response, reminding us that art can bypass reason and draw us into a space of sensory richness and emotional charge. Within ÉKSTASIS, the beautiful collides with the grotesque, the intimate with the theatrical. The result is an exhibition that rejects the mundane, challenges conventions, and opens the door to altered states of perception.
