Ecclesia Interrupta - @ The Broel Towers

Set within the historic Broel Towers in Kortrijk, Ecclesia Interrupta investigates the disruption of sacred form through contemporary intervention. Across two floors of the former fortress, sculptures by Ghislaine de Wilde and Nathan French, alongside etched canvases by Yann Laissy, engage in a dialogue with inherited iconography and architectural memory. Bound, veiled, and recontextualised, the figures exist in a state of suspended ritual — an interruption of prayer, myth, and gesture. The exhibition reflects on the vulnerability of devotion and the fragility of constructed sanctity, asking what persists when the sacred is paused or reimagined.
